Sunday School Program

Bitaemo-Welcome to the St. Josaphat Sadochok

The Sunday School Program at St. Josaphat Cathedral begins in September and ends in April. It is offered for all children and Junior High students who attend the Cathedral Parish.

We use the God-With-Us series, a catechetical program developed by the Eastern Catholic Bishops of the United States.

Pre-school Children (English)

This program takes place during the 9:30 am Divine Liturgy, with children leaving the Divine Liturgy at the Small Entrance and returning at the Cherubic Hymn.

Elementary and Junior High Program

Classes will begin at 10:30 am (after Communion) and will run until 11:30 am.  These classes, taught in English, are open to children who attend either the English or Ukrainian Divine Liturgies.

First Solemn Communion Classes

Those children who are in Grade Two will follow the program suitable for the preparation and the reception of their First Solemn Confession and Communion. The date for Solemn Holy Communion has been set for Sunday, April 22, 2018.
Two options are offered this year:
1. Sundays from 10:30 to 11:30 am, beginning September 17, 2017 (taught in English). These classes will run throughout the year during the same time-frame as the other Sunday School Classes, which occur between the two regular Sunday Liturgies.
2. Saturdays, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, beginning Saturday, January 13, 2018 (taught in English)

Monthly Children’s Liturgy

The Children’s Liturgy will take place on the last Sunday of the month and will highlight the participation of the young people in our parish, including helping with responses, reading the epistle and helping with the collection. The homily will also be directed towards the children. All children are encouraged to participate!
